Following the success of its first open forum last winter, the Cornell Employee Assembly will host its second open forum Tuesday, Feb. 3, from noon to 2 p.m. in Bailey Hall.
The topic of the forum is "How Employees Are Changing Cornell," and it will focus on how the university is meeting challenges and directions for the future, say forum organizers.
President Hunter Rawlings, Provost Don M. Randel, Senior Vice President Fred Rogers and Associate Vice President Mary Opperman are scheduled to make brief presentations, followed by a question-and-answer session.
The forum is intended as an opportunity for university employees to interact with senior administrators, discuss concerns and learn more about Cornell's future, said Meg Overstrom, chair of the Employee Assembly.
"This is also a chance for employees to talk about success in their jobs," she said, referring to the forum's topic. Overstrom said she encourages employees to take advantage of the opportunity to ask questions of senior administrators, face to face.
Questions for administrators may either be asked in person, or they may be posed confidentially, in advance, by sending e-mail to Emp-Assembly@cornell.edu.
"This open forum begins to demonstrate that change here is a reality," said Opperman. "Staff here are improving the university's efficiency, and Cornell has made strong progress in the past year, in areas such as workplace flexibility and raising the minima, that have meant a lot to staff. It's a shared partnership."
Free bus service will pick up staff members who want to attend at East Hill Plaza, between Cornell Federal Credit Union and the Controller's Office, at 11:40 a.m. and in front of Schurman Hall at 11:45 a.m. It will leave Bailey Hall at 2:10 p.m. For more information, call the Office of Assemblies at 255-3715.
