Pre-enrollment dates, times have changed: Multiple changes have been made to speed up the CoursEnroll performance time, making it easier for students to enter their spring 2005 course requests this fall. The pre-enrollment dates and times have changed, and the enrollment window has been shortened to reduce demands on the mainframe. Each undergraduate class now will have their own separate window for pre-enrollment. The pre-enrollment period now will begin at 6:30 a.m. on the first day of each window and end at 11:59 p.m. on the final day. The dates for each class to enter course requests are as follows:Graduate and professional students, Monday, Oct. 18, to Friday, Oct. 22; seniors, Monday, Oct. 25, to Friday, Oct. 29; juniors, Monday, Nov. 1, to Friday, Nov. 5; sophomores, Monday, Nov. 8, to Friday, Nov. 12; and freshmen, Monday, Nov. 15, to Friday, Nov. 19. To access CoursEnroll, students must use the Just the Facts desktop client from Bear Access. To do this, students need to have the Bear Access infrastructure installed. If they do not already have it installed, they should go to http://www.cit.cornell.edu/bearaccess/software.html to download and install the necessary software. Students are asked to download the software as soon as possible and not wait until the pre-enrollment period begins. For more information on CoursEnroll, visit http://registrar.sas.cornell.edu or call 254-4795.

Conflict management program offered: The Conflict Management and Interest-based Negotiations program will be offered Nov. 3-4 on campus. This two-day, highly interactive program is designed for anyone interested in or responsible for problem solving, relationship building, conducting successful negotiations, and maintaining a healthy working environment. The program focuses on the application of proven conflict management strategies and techniques. Participants will gain an increased understanding of defensive behaviors, why they hurt relationships, and how to deal with them; an expanded awareness of the principles and processes of conflict management, including a framework for diagnosing and improving the quality of relationships; a step-by-step process for resolving a conflict situation, including a technique for getting others to solve their own problems; preparation and practice for dealing with real-life negotiations; and practical guidelines, tools, and skills for successful conflict management and negotiations.
