Into the Streets

On Saturday, Oct. 28, hundreds of Cornell students took part in the annual Into the Streets service day in the Ithaca community, through the Public Service Center. Students volunteered to help out at 26 community organizations and agencies, such as the Drop-In Center, the Sciencenter, Foodnet, the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross, Cornell Plantations, the Tompkins County Office for the Aging and the Southside Community Center, doing work such as painting, cleaning, raking and moving materials. Above, from left, Neal Racinowski '02, Phil Chen '01 and Alex Smith '02, all from the Seal and Serpent fraternity, help level a section of ground for putting down wood mulch at the recently built playground at Fall Creek Elementary School in Ithaca.
