Display of AIDS memorial quilt is on view in Gannett through Dec. 2

To commemorate the World Health Organization's 13th annual World AIDS Day on Dec. 1, Gannett: Cornell University Health Services is hosting a display of the Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt in its main lobby through Saturday, Dec. 2.

The quilt is an international memorial to those who have died of AIDS. "World AIDS Day is an important time when the world reflects on the tremendous losses we have suffered," said Andy Ives, executive director of the AIDS Memorial Quilt. "It is also a time to recommit ourselves to finding a cure and promoting HIV/AIDS awareness. Though these displays, the quilt brings its messages of remembrance and hope to the communities across the country."

In order to accommodate the busy lives of Cornell community members, Gannett is keeping its doors open for viewing the quilt until 7 p.m. throughout the display period. To learn more about the AIDS Memorial Quilt, contact the web site www.aidsquilt.org . If you have any questions about the quilt at Cornell, contact Gannett Health Promotion at 255-4782.
