The Cornell Dance Program presents new choreography and dance in its Fall Dance Theatre Concert, Nov. 30-Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Class of '56 Dance Theatre at Cornell's Center for Theatre Arts.
"The concert this semester represents a range of movement, gesture, dance and performance work. There is an interpretation of Stravinsky's ballet score 'Pulcinella,' a commentary on how word texts influence our every movement, and a gestural commentary on beginnings, middles and endings. It promises to be an entertaining and provocative show that all ages can appreciate," said dance coordinator Jim Self.
The concert will open with a piece by Self that he choreographed specifically to introduce the concert. There will be dance or performance art pieces choreographed by the following talented students: Laura Summers '02, Nathalie Fassie '04, Elizabeth Mao '01, Lesley Gholston '01 and Nadia Drake '02. Closing the concert will be a ballet piece choreographed by dance lecturer Byron Suber that features Cornell students and local children. There will be a discussion following each night's show.
Tickets to the Fall Dance Theatre Concert are $4. Call or visit the CTA box office, 430 College Ave.; 254-ARTS.
