Cornell will observe its 14th annual Employee/Family Night at the Court on Jan. 20, 2001. The event will start with a pasta dinner (stuffed shells) served in the Ramin Room of Bartels Hall (formerly the Field House), 4:30-7 p.m. Participants also will be able to watch the Cornell men's and women's basketball teams take on Columbia. The women tip-off at 5 p.m. and the men follow at 7:30 p.m. in the Bartels Hall gymnasium.
Tickets for the Employee/Family Night event will be sold from Dec. 18 through Jan. 12 . The $5 ticket includes dinner and admission to both the men's and women's basketball games. Tickets also may be purchased for just the dinner or just the games for $3.
Tickets will be available at the following locations: Athletic Ticket Office, Helen Newman Hall, the Campus Store and through Cornell Recreation Connection (CRC) in 130 Day Hall. Employee/Family Night tickets will not be sold after Jan. 12.
Those who purchase tickets or sign up to volunteer by Dec. 22 will be entered in a drawing to win a brunch for two at Banfi's restaurant. Blocks of tickets of 10 or more may be charged to department accounts.
Additional Employee/Family Night activities will include: free family swimming and discounted bowling ($1 per game and $1 for shoe rental, with a three-game limit; first come, first served) 2-5 p.m. at Helen Newman Hall, and free admission to recreational skating at Lynah Rink, 3-5 p.m.
To celebrate the 14th year of the event, there will be a drawing at the men's basketball game for a chance to win two U.S. Airways round-trip tickets (people must be at the game to qualify). The employee winning the drawing will get two tickets to the final men's ice hockey game and will be able to participate in an ice hockey shootout, the winner of which will receive the U.S. Airways tickets. In addition, the Department of Athletics will be giving away two season ice hockey tickets and two all-sport passes (excluding ice hockey). An entry form can be submitted for the drawing with every ticket purchased. Prizes also will be given away at the dinner before the basketball games.
Any Cornell departments that would like to reserve a booth displaying services or opportunities offered to faculty and staff can contact Joe DeMarco at 254-5407, 255-8200 or jjd7@cornell.edu. People who would like to volunteer at the dinner need to contact Janet Beebe at 255-7565.
