  • Hillary Clinton tickets: Free tickets for the keynote speeches at the President's Council of Cornell Women conference "Cornell Women: Celebrating Leadership" March 10 and 11 on campus are available at the Willard Straight Hall ticket office, beginning today. The speakers are: first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, on "Women and the New Millennium," March 10, in Barton Hall, 4-6 p.m.; and Mae Jemison M.D. '81, A.D. White Professor-at-Large, astronaut, physician, engineer, professor and president of the Jemison Group Inc., on "Reality Leads Fantasy," March 11, in Alice Statler Auditorium, 3:30-5:30 p.m.

  • Calling 7th and 8th graders: By participating in the Expanding Your Horizons conference April 8 at Cornell, girls in grades 7 and 8 can design their own signature perfume, create a new ice cream flavor, take a virtual trip to save a Costa Rican rain forest, unravel the Chinese hammer mystery, take the bounce out of a ball, consider extraterrestrial life or join in any other of 23 science and math activities. Volunteering as career guides are Ithaca-area women who have succeeded in a variety of scientific fields. Participants choose three hands-on workshops from among 23 offerings. Lunch, a T-shirt and transportation around campus are included. A concurrent program for parents, teachers and other interested adults offers workshops on "Women World Leaders," "What's a Parent of a Middle-School Girl To Do?" and "Opportunities and Career Paths in Math, Science and Engineering."   • Summer Session catalog: The 2000 Summer Session catalog is now available. Faculty members will receive one at their campus address. Students may pick one up in B20 Day Hall or at campus information centers. The catalog is also available on-line at HTTP://www.summer.cornell.edu Employees wishing to register for summer session courses should complete the Summer Session Application Form for Non-Professorial Employees (available in B20 Day Hall) and return it to B20 Day Hall by mail before the course-enrollment deadline. A reminder: It is not necessary for employees to attend registration on the first day of classes.

  • Outdoor Education logo: Todd Miner, Cornell Outdoor Education (COE) executive director, has announced a competition to design a logo for the nationally known outdoor education program. The competition is open to all high school and college students. An honorarium of $250 will be awarded for the final chosen design. Submissions must consist of original art or design. Submitted designs will not be returned and will remain the property of COE. The deadline to submit a design is April 28, and feedback on early draft submissions will be gladly provided, said Miner.
