A memorial service for Robert Rathbun Wilson, professor of physics emeritus, is set for Saturday, March 11, at 2 p.m. in Sage Chapel. An informal reception in the Memorial Room of Willard Straight Hall will follow the service. Wilson, the experimental physicist who designed some of the world's most powerful particle accelerators used to study the fundamental nature of matter, died Jan 16 at home in Ithaca at age 85. The memorial service is organized by the Wilson family, the Laboratory of Nuclear Studies and the Department of Physics.
