Robert R. Granados, at the Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research Inc. (BTI), has been selected as a fellow in the Entomological Society of America. Granados is the Charles E. Palm Distinguished Scientist at BTI and the director of Insect Biological Control and Plant Protection programs at BTI. As a researcher, he has developed novel and improved insect cell lines. These are important in baculoviral molecular biology and the expression of recombinant proteins. Many laboratories use one of Granados' patented cell lines, High Five, for protein expression. It is also used to produce agricultural and medical bioproducts.
