Volunteers are sought to help build playground at Fall Creek Elementary

Are you tired of working on your thesis or studying for exams?

Take a break for a few hours and do something wonderful for the children of Ithaca by participating in a project guaranteed to have immediate and visible results. Help build a new playground at Fall Creek Elementary School. The new playground will serve the entire Ithaca community.

In addition to many fun features dreamed up by students at Fall Creek Elementary -- including a trolley, dolphins, rings and a clock tower -- this playground will be the only handicapped-accessible playground in the city of Ithaca.

Volunteers are needed for a community build that will take place over five days, June 7-11. Work shifts are 8 a.m.-noon,
12:30-5 p.m., and 5-9 p.m. No prior knowledge or skill is necessary. Free food and babysitting (for children ages 3 and up) will be provided on site.

If you are able to help, phone or e-mail one of the following: Paul Sawyer, 272-7874, pls12@cornell.edu ; 274-8003 (voice mail for the playground committee); or Katie Gilroy, basgil@clarityconnect.com.

If possible, identify the day(s) and shift(s) you plan to work.

Fall Creek Elementary is a small school nestled at the foot of Gun Shop Hill. To get there from campus, walk (or take a TCAT bus) down Lake Street from University Avenue; make a left onto Lincoln Street and a left onto Aurora. The playground is one block south.
