Parking garage closing: Cornell's 13-year-old parking garage will undergo a long-planned maintenance and repair project this summer. Work is scheduled to begin May 30 and to continue through Aug 17. The garage will be closed to all pedestrian and vehicle traffic during this time. A number of temporary parking provisions are being offered by Transportation and Mail Services to accommodate permit holders displaced by the project, including reserving the metered lot east of the Field House and constructing a temporary lot at the south end of Hoy Field for "G" parking. If you have questions regarding your permit or other transportation options, contact Thomas Aldrich, commuter programs coordinator, at 255-5692 or send him e-mail at tfa1@cornell.edu.

Summer parking permits: Summer parking permits, effective May 30 through Aug. 17, will go on sale at Transportation and Mail Services, 116 Maple Ave., beginning May 22. Due to the parking garage closure, summer permit availability will be limited to Tier 1-3 parking areas this year. For more information, call transportation services at 255-PARK (7275).

Shoemobile: Famous Brands will be on campus with its Red Wing shoemobile May 19, 7:30-11 a.m. and noon-3 p.m., at the Environmental Health and Safety Building, 201 Palm Road. The shoemobile provides a large selection of safety shoes. Employees eligible to receive department reimbursement for safety shoes should use their procurement cards when purchasing shoes. For more information, call 255-8200.

Foliage tour: Now is the perfect time to enjoy the newly emerged foliage and late spring flowers. On Saturday, May 13, from 10 a.m. to noon, John Fitzpatrick, graduate student in the Department of Horticulture, will lead a tour of trees and shrubs in the Cornell landscape. Landscape values and uses and pest and disease problems will be discussed. Participants will meet on campus at Minn's Flower Garden on Tower Road. The tour will take place rain or shine, so dress appropriately. The maximum size for the class is 25 and pre-registration is required; the fee is $5. Call Cornell Cooperative Extension at 272-2292 to register or for more information.
