Hydrant flushing: The annual flushing of fire hydrants for both the endowed and statutory campuses will take place between June 12 and June 30. The water will be safe to drink during this period, although it may appear cloudy, said James Finnigan, manager of the Water and Sewer Division of the Cornell Department of Utilities.

Mann temporary closing: Mann Library will close its doors June 17-26. Librarians and volunteers will move the library's collection to the building's new addition. On June 26, Mann Library will reopen its doors and welcome patrons to its new addition, which will be the library's temporary home for the next four years, while the old building undergoes renovations. In addition to full-window views of the woods above Beebe Lake, the new 75,000-square-foot addition features state-of-the-art amenities, such as fiber-optic cabling for computer communication and air conditioning. The transfer of some books and journals to the new addition will begin June 12, and it is expected to end in early July. During the move, patrons will not have access to the collection and are asked to plan ahead. However, a "mini-Mann" library, replete with reference and circulation services, will be set up in the lobby. There also will be limited access to the micro-computing lab and study spaces on the first floor. Details about the move are on Mann's web site at www.mannlib.cornell.edu. E-mail mann_ref@cornell.edu if you have questions or concerns.
