Medical College and Graduate School have their Commencement

With ancient pomp and a sincere send-off from Cornell President Hunter Rawlings, 112 newly minted M.D.s, 30 Ph.D.s and three M.S.s received their diplomas May 25 in Avery Fisher Hall in New York City at Commencement ceremonies for the Joan and Sanford I. Weill Medical College and Graduate School of Medical Sciences of Cornell.

The medical college's graduating class was the largest in the institution's 102-year history. In addition to the commencement address by Rawlings, speakers included graduating students Elizabeth K. Broussard of the Medical College and Cynthia Anne Leifer of the Graduate School of Medical Sciences.

Dr. Antonio Gotto Jr., the Stephen and Suzanne Weiss Dean and Provost for Medical Affairs of Weill Cornell Medical College, and Dr. David P. Hajjar, dean of the Weill Cornell Graduate School, presented the degrees, and Gotto administered the Hippocratic Oath to the new M.D.s.
