Getting his insight

Richard Schuler, right, director of the Cornell Institute for Public Affairs and professor of economics and civil and environmental engineering, is interviewed by Elizabeth Harness of News Center 7 before his lecture Jan. 25 in Phillips Hall Auditorium on "Electricity Deregulation: Bonanza, Chaos and Crossed Wires." Schuler has made a study of the effects of competitive markets on the reliable operation of the electricity supply system as part of a National Science Foundation-funded group of economists and engineers at Cornell. He also is a member of the board of New York Independent System Operators, which oversees operation of the transmission system and the bulk power market in the state.
