Ammons program viewing: The general public is invited to a group viewing of a Cable Channel 13 program featuring the reading of poems by the late A.R. Ammons, followed by comments about the poems and the poet, Monday, April 9, in the Founders Room of Anabel Taylor Hall. Ammons, the late Goldwin Smith Professor of Poetry emeritus, died in February of this year. Those involved in the presentation include a cross section of Ammons' friends, former students and colleagues, including: Phyllis Janowitz, Lamar Herrin, James McConkey, Cynthia Bond, Nancy Lee Couto, David Burak, Dan McCall, M. H. Abrams, Cathy Carlson and Robert Finlay. The gathering, including a reception, will take place from 3:45 to 5:15 p.m. The Cable 13 program will air at 4 p.m. April 9 and again at 6 p.m. April 11 and 6 p.m. April 13. Cosponsors of Monday's event include: the Cornell Council for the Arts, the Creative Writing Program and the Theater of Ideas.

Student ID recarding: The Office of the University Registrar is reissuing Cornell identification cards to all students with Social Security numbers (SSN) on their cards (approximately half of the total student body) beginning this week. ID cards must be replaced by July 1 to comply with New York state legislation 6237-B, which restricts the use of student Social Security numbers from public display, including student ID cards. During the month of April recarding stations will be set up in each of the colleges and schools so that students can get new IDs (see schedule below). Who must get a new Cornell identification card? All undergraduate, grad uate and professional students with a nine-digit SSN on their ID card (who are not graduating in May). This nine-digit number is in addition to the six-digit student ID number, which will remain on the card.
