CU's Horses '01 has free events open to public
The Horses 2001 equine conference and trade show at Cornell this weekend,
April 7-8, will feature several free events, open
to the public.
- Draft horse rides will shuttle
people between Riley-Robb Hall and Bartels Hall (formerly the Field House) both days,
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- The "Vendor Fair" at Bartels Hall
will feature over 60 horse-related vendors, including horse trailer sales, feed sales,
tack shops, breed associations, fencing suppliers, equine publications, horse farms and
an equine artist. On Saturday, the fair will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Sunday, it will
be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- The "Demonstration Tent" at the
parking lot behind Morrison Hall (at the intersection of Judd Falls and Tower roads),
will feature a parade of horse breeds, plus demonstrations on trailer loading, farrier
skills and taking the pulse, temperature and respiration of a horse. In the parade, viewers
can see draft horses, standard bred thoroughbreds, Friesians Morgans, Rocky
Mountain horses, Icelandic horses, Arabians,
quarter horses, paint horses and Hackneys. The demonstration tent is sponsored
by Cornell's New York State College of Veterinary Medicine.
