Trustees meet this weekend: The Cornell Board of Trustees will meet on campus Friday, May 25, and Saturday, May 26.
The Executive Committee of the board will hold a brief open session at the start of its meeting at 9 a.m. Friday in Ballroom B of the Statler Hotel. The open session will include a discussion of the 2001-2002 financial plan for the contract colleges.
The full board will convene in open session on Friday at 3:15 p.m. and in closed, executive session at 9 a.m. Saturday, in the Trustee Meeting Room of the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art.
During the open session the board will hear reports from President Hunter Rawlings; from Dean of the Faculty J. Robert Cooke; from Dawn Darby, chair of the Employee Assembly; and the annual report from Robert Harris, vice provost for diversity and faculty development, on "Progress Toward Diversity and Inclusion." The 2001-2002 financial plan and contract college budget also will be presented.

A limited number of tickets for the open session of the Executive Committee and full board are available at the Information and Referral desk in the lobby of Day Hall. No tickets are needed for the open sessions of the other committees.
Lot renovations: This summer, the east half of B lot will be closed for major renovations completing the project begun last summer. Work will begin on Monday, June 11; completion is targeted for mid-August. O permit holders may continue to park in all areas signed for "O" parking, including: the rest of B lot, the TRB (Teaching and Research Barn) lot at the corner of Tower and Campus roads and the gravel lot across the street from the TRB lot. There are also some "O" spaces in a gravel lot along Caldwell Road. All access roads will remain open and bus service in B lot will be uninterrupted.
Library Showcase: Cornell University Library (CUL) will host its first annual "Showcase" Thursday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Memorial Room of Willard Straight Hall. Free and open to the public, the event will highlight a wide variety of innovative projects and services currently underway in the library.
Showcase attendees can explore and learn more about a variety of Cornell Library initiatives, including: preservation of the A. D. White Architectural Photographs and Samuel May Anti-Slavery collections; digitization of core historical literature in agriculture and home economics; and instructional collaborations between university faculty members and librarians. Library staff members will be on hand to discuss their projects and answer questions.
The Showcase is also the kick-off for CUL's Professional Development Week, a weeklong forum for library staff to share their current research with colleagues. Canal corridor conference: Community development professionals, government officials and citizens who want to improve the economic vitality of New York's municipalities are invited to a conference, "Social Trends and Outlook 2001: Building Economically Healthy Communities in New York State," June 4 to 6 at the Statler Hotel on campus. Hosted by Cornell's Community and Rural Development Institute (CaRDI), the conference will feature 17 sessions focusing on economic renewal, policy analysis, healthy families programs and development efforts in New York state's Erie Canal corridor. Following the conference, CaRDI will host the Canal Corridor Workshop, also at the Statler Hotel, on the afternoon of June 6.
