One tough cop

Cornell Police Officer Jerry Wright displays first-place medals he won at the annual New York Law Enforcement Games in Albany, June 11-16. Competing in the games for the first time, Wright took first in the open division (30 and under) "toughest cop alive" competition, which comprises eight track-and-field events. He also was a member of the first-place 4x100 relay team, and he finished second in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes. Law enforcement personnel from throughout the state and from Massachusetts and Canada took part in games. Nicola Kountoupes/University Photography
