Harry Kaiser, professor of applied economics and management, has been elected to the American Agricultural Economics Association board of directors for a three year term. Kaiser also received the Distinguished Member Award from the Northeastern Agricultural and Resource Economics Association in June.


Bernard F. Stanton, professor emeritus in applied economics and management, received an honorary doctor of science degree in June from the College of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Helsinki. Stanton was one of eight to receive this honorary award, which is bestowed once every five years. Risto Ihamuotila, chancellor of the University of Helsinki, cited Stanton's leadership in the International Agricultural Economics Association, as well as his long-standing association with the College of Agriculture and Forestry. Stanton conducted research as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Helsinki in 1966-67, where he worked with Ihamuotila, then a student, to produce the first balance sheet of agriculture for Finland.
