Gentlemen, start your pinewood

Robert Barker/University Photography

Seniors take part in the final design competition -- the "Formula MAE" Truck Racing Derby -- which caps Professor Charles Williamson's fluids portion of the course Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) 427 in Bartels Hall, Dec. 5. Brian Yee-Chan, center, places his home-designed rig at the start of the pinewood derby ramp, while competitors, from left, James Buescher, Jim Mondello and Stephen Cumming look on. The track was purchased with funds from a Stephen H. Weiss Presidential Fellowship awarded to Williamson in 1999.
