The Cayuga Vocal Ensemble (CVE) continues its 2001-02 season with an evening of wine and song, its 13th annual cabaret-style entertainment and fund-raiser, Saturday, March 16, at 8 p.m. in the Terrace Café of the Statler Hotel on campus.
This year's show, titled "Let's Fall in Love," features a wide array of tunes from musicals and the usual smattering of jazz and popular standards (highlighting the music of Cole Porter), as well as a set of CVE's favorite "forbidden" Broadway tunes (parodies of well-known songs). Full ensemble numbers include Another Op'nin', It's High Time and In the Still of the Night. Guest director for the program is Jennifer Haywood, with guest pianist Kerry Mizrahi. During the extended intermission, hors d'oeuvres, desserts, wines and coffee will be offered, courtesy of Banfi's Restaurant (all included in the price of the ticket).
Tickets ($25 in advance, $30 at the door) are available at the Willard Straight Hall ticket office, the Dillingham Center at Ithaca College, the ticket center at Clinton House and at Micky Roof Designer Goldsmith in Triphammer Mall. For more information, call 255-4760 or visit CVE's web site at http://www.cayuga-vocal.org.
Comprising 16 professionally trained musicians, the Cayuga Vocal Ensemble has presented performances of vocal music to the Southern Tier and surrounding areas for more than two decades, performing everything from madrigals to musical theater, Bach to Britten, opera to oratorio.
