Scholarship applications: The following scholarship awards are open to rising seniors and to graduate students, as specified below. Those wanting to apply must contact Beth Fiori, fellowship coordinator in the office of Cornell Career Services, at btfl@cornell.edu. Mitchell Scholarship: One year of support in any field of study at a university in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland. Applicants must be U.S. citizens under the age of 30 with a record of intellectual distinction, leadership, extracurricular activity and service to others. Luce Scholarship: One year internship in Asia open to all career fields. Applications sought from those under 30 years old who have made a significant contribution to their career field. Those familiar with Asian culture and language are not eligible. Contact Fiori before May 15 for application early in the fall.

Churchill Scholarship: One year of graduate support at Cambridge University in the natural sciences, mathematics or engineering. Applications sought from those under 26 years of age with a bachelor's or master's but not a doctoral degree. Contact Fiori before May 15 for application early in the fall.

Shoemobile: The Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) has announced the Red Wing shoemobile will be on campus Wednesday, May 8. The shoemobile, which provides a large selection of safety shoes, will be at the EH&S building, 201 Palm Road, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Employees eligible to receive department reimbursement for safety shoes should use their procurement card when purchasing shoes. Purchase prices above the departmental allowance can be paid by the employee with cash, personal credit card or check. For information, call EH&S at 255-8200.

Awards notice: The Cornell Chronicle will publish, in the May 23 edition, the names of students and faculty members who have won Cornell college or academic department awards for 2001-02. Send the notices -- listing the names of the awards, the award winners and prizes -- to Karen Walters, Cornell News Service, Surge 3. The deadline is May 10.
