CUSLAR award: The Committee on U.S.-Latin American Relations (CUSLAR), a volunteer organization based at Cornell, has just been awarded a $3,000 grant from Resist Inc., a national progressive foundation located in Somerville, Mass. CUSLAR's mission is to promote a greater understanding about U.S. policy toward Latin America through educational events, publications and community outreach. CUSLAR is primarily a volunteer organization that is a project of the Center for Religion, Ethics and Social Policy (CRESP). Located in Anabel Taylor Hall, CUSLAR's resource center is open to the public and includes a lending library (print and video), information on travel and volunteer opportunities abroad, and volunteer opportunities for local students and community members. "With this support from Resist, we can continue our work advocating for peace, justice, human rights and a sensible foreign policy toward Latin American countries," said Marcie Ley, CUSLAR coordinator. During 2001 Resist gave more than $300,000 to 136 organizations across the country. For more information on CUSLAR, call 255-7293 or e-mail cuslar@cornell.edu.
