On Sept. 5 the Department of Music launches a new, weekly daytime concert series, Midday Music at Lincoln, featuring informal chamber music by Cornell faculty and students. The free recitals are Thursdays from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. in the Neylan Rehearsal Hall (B-20 Lincoln Hall), a large, two-story space with cherry hardwood floors and two matched Steinway grand pianos -- complete with integrated lighting, recording and presentation technologies.
Fortepianist Malcolm Bilson, the Whiton Professor of Music, kicks off the series Sept. 5 with Mozart sonatas. He also perform Sept. 19 and Oct. 10. Associate Professor Judith Kellock gives listeners a taste of the songs of Ned Rorem and Libby Larsen on Sept.12, while Assistant Professor Kia-Hui Tan presents violin sonatas of Beethoven and Brahms on Oct. 24. Student pianists David Kempe and David Kim make their presentations Oct. 3 and 17, respectively
