To the editor:
Tinkering with academic alignments seems to be a favorite pastime for Cornell administrations. A recent proposal to break up the College of Architecture, Art and Planning into separate units and locate them in other schools is a case in point.
Based on the traditional conjunction of the visual arts, the college has a remarkable record of educating some of the most notable architects, artists and planners of our day. To divide it up for the sake of mere bureaucratic tidiness is folly.
I hope that someone in the administration has enough common sense to preserve the college as it is.
