CU United Way Campaign will kick off, Sept. 26

This fall's Cornell United Way Campaign will kick off, officially, on Thursday, Sept. 26, said Carolyn Ainslie, the new chair of the university's United Way campaign.

"Our local human service agencies are working harder than ever but have more financial constraints than in the past, with fewer state and federal dollars," said Ainslie, Cornell's vice president for planning and budget. "The local human service agencies in our community depend on our support, and we ask the Cornell community to once more show their support."

The Cornell community is invited to the Cornell United Way Campaign Kickoff, scheduled for noon in the lobby of the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, to help launch this year's effort. Highlights of the event will include the opportunity to learn more about local human service agencies, free light refreshments and photo boards showing volunteers' working at member agencies during the United Way's Day of Caring Sept. 5.

Cornell staff and faculty can expect to receive their pledge cards for United Way donations by the end of this month.
