Thanks to the generosity of the Cornell community, the 2002 Cornell United Way Campaign has more than met its target, receiving a total of $593,344.25 -- that's 106 percent of its $560,000 goal.
"What a great way to start the year," enthused Carolyn Ainslie, vice president for planning and budget and Cornell's 2002 United Way campaign chair. "We are so pleased and proud to have the privilege to acknowledge the generosity of the Cornell community in doing its share for the county campaign."
"Although countywide employee giving declined in various sectors, Cornell's support has made it possible for children, adults, senior citizens and families to receive needed health and human care services throughout the year," said James Brown, executive director of United Way of Tompkins County. "Your campaign is a wonderful and important gift at a critical time."
Ainslie said that Cornellians' generous spirit will help support vital programs throughout the county. Contributions to United Way's Community Fund will be leveraged and distributed to achieve maximum impact for the consumers and member agencies. And, as always, designated funds will be handled in the manner outlined by donors.
Ainslie expressed appreciation and thanks for the ongoing support of President Hunter Rawlings and for the hard work of the Cornell United Way Campaign cabinet, deputies in each division and the wide array of generous donors across campus.
"Thank you for helping us to care for one another by expressing your caring through support for our county United Way," she concluded.
