Obituary

Joseph Leeming, a broadcast journalist in the university's public information departments, including the Cornell News Service, died peacefully in his sleep Jan. 18. He was 74. He had retired from Cornell in 1990.

Leeming was the producer and host of a weekly interview program, "Cornell Forum," that was broadcast on more than 500 radio stations in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. After his retirement, he was the co-host of the weekly radio program "Senior Time" on WHCU and was active in numerous volunteer organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, Cayuga Medical Center Auxiliary and Friends of the Tompkins County Library.

Born in Buffalo, Leeming attended Harvard University and worked for NBC and CBS in New York City before joining the Cornell staff in 1968. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee Leeming; sons Jay and Christopher; and a sister, Avery Leeming Nagle, of Santa Fe, N.M.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Senior Citizens Center and to Hospicare, or to a charity of one's choice. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Jan. 25, at 1 p.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church, 210 N. Cayuga St., Ithaca.
