Cornell President Jeffrey Lehman will give the keynote address at a public dessert, coffee and conversation gathering titled "Public Education: Let's Participate," Monday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. in the Ithaca High School cafeteria. Ithaca City School District Superintendent Judith Pastel and Ithaca Public Education Initiative (IPEI) president Terry Byrnes also will be speaking at the event.
Lehman is a strong and articulate advocate for public education and will share insights on success stories and partnerships. Pastel will bring people up-to-date on the latest innovations in the district's programs, and Byrnes will talk about ways people in the community can support their schools through the programs of IPEI. There also will be opportunity to ask questions of the speakers.
The forum is free and open to the public, but seating is limited and reservations by Oct. 30 are appreciated.
To make a reservation, contact the IPEI by phone at 256-4734 or by e-mail at rsvp@ipei.org.
