Award nominations: Jan. 31, 2004, is the nominations deadline for the Richard B. Fischer Environmental Conservation Recognition Award, which is given annually by the town of Ithaca's Conservation Board for activities that benefit the town's natural environment. The prize is named for the Cornell professor emeritus of science and environmental education and longtime resident of the town who inspired generations of college students, schoolchildren and private citizens to do their part to benefit the natural surroundings. The next award will be given for activities during 2003.
