Barbara Knuth, professor and chair of natural resources, has been selected as one of two Northeast region recipients of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food and Agriculture Sciences Excellence in Teaching Award for 2002. Congress authorized the award in 1990, and it generates nominations from a wide spectrum of departments in agriculture, natural resources, veterinary science and human sciences. Knuth joined the Cornell faculty in 1986. In addition to her professorship, she serves as co-leader of the department's Human Dimension Research Unit. The unit specializes in understanding how people interact with the environment.
