Memorials

There will be a memorial service for William R. Sears, Saturday, April 26, at 2 p.m. in B17 Upson Hall on campus. A reception will follow in the Upson Hall lounge. Sears, who died Oct. 12, 2002, in Tucson, Ariz., was a member of the Cornell faculty from 1946 to 1974 and the director of the Graduate School of Aeronautical Engineering from 1946 to 1972, at which time aeronautical engineering merged with the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He left Cornell in 1974 to join the faculty at the University of Arizona, where he remained until his death.


The Department of Classics will be holding a celebration of the life of Professor Judith Ginsburg, Sunday, April 27, at 10:30 a.m. in Barnes Hall. Ginsburg, 58, died Dec. 28, 2002. She taught in the classics department from 1976 until the time of her death.
