David BenDaniel, the Don and Margi Berens Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Johnson Graduate School of Management; John Callister, the Harvey Kinzelberg Director of Entrepreneurship in Engineering in the College of Engineering; and Deborah Streeter, the Bruce F. Failing Sr. Professor of Personal Enterprise and Small Business Management in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, recently were recognized for their leadership in entrepreneurship education and for their contributions to the J. Thomas Clark Professorships Program. (Read related story.) The J. Thomas Clark Professorships were established in 1993 by J. Thomas Clark '63, MBA '64, and Nancy W. Clark '62, M.Ed '64, to foster participation in Cornell's universitywide Entrepreneurship and Personal Enterprise Program. Clark professors have created new courses integrating entrepreneurship basics into science, engineering and design. They also have used the professorships to study minority-owned firms, child-care businesses and other businesses. The three professors were recognized by the full J. Thomas Clark Professorship Selection Committee, which is chaired by Susan Henry, the Ronald P. Lynch Dean of Agriculture and Life Sciences, at its April 16 meeting, and they will receive letters of commendation, as well as a cash award. "The Clark Professorships have gained a national reputation for being a model way to encourage and develop universitywide entrepreneurship education," Henry said in a letter thanking them for helping Cornell attain this distinction.
