| A celebration of 40 years of district cooling at Cornell was attended by current and retired staff and administrators from the Department of Utilities and Energy Management, as well as vendors, contractors and other university staff, at the Lake Source Cooling heat-exchange facility on East Shore Drive, Sept. 9. Speakers included Harold Craft, vice president for administration and CFO of the university. Roughly 40 percent of central campus is cooled by Cornell's chilled water system, the heart of which is Lake Source Cooling. During the celebration, above, Jim Adams, left, Utilities director, hands a plaque to Henry Doney, Cornell's retired associate vice president for facilities services. The plaque acknowledges Doney's service and the fact that a new conference room in the Humphreys Service Building is being named for him. Nicola Kountoupes/University Photography |
