Cornell will host a symposium Sept. 8-9 focusing on land-grant university research and outreach to help communities prepare for natural and man-made biohazards. The symposium, "Role and Responsibilities of the Land Grant System in Building Community Strengths to Address Biohazards," will be held in Room G10 of the Biotechnology Building on campus. Cornell Campus Club
The Cornell Campus Club will hold a fall coffee and activities sign-up Sept. 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Grand Ballroom, Clarion Hotel and Conference Center, 1 Sheraton Drive. All women belonging to the Cornell community are invited to attend the fall registration coffee to welcome newcomers and to sign up for activities and groups.
Ecology & Evolutionary Biology
A public meeting will be held Sept. 9, 3 p.m., in A106 Corson Hall. Susan Williams, a candidate for the Shoals Marine Laboratory directorship, will share her vision for the Shoals Marine Laboratory, followed by a question-and-answer period.
Folk Guitar Lessons
Once again, the Willard Straight Hall Program Board presents Phil Shapiro's group folk guitar lessons. There are eight one-hour lessons on Monday evenings, starting Monday, Sept. 8, in the North Room of WSH. Register at the first lesson; just bring a guitar. The beginner lesson starts at 7 p.m.; intermediate lesson, 8 p.m. The course costs $50, payable at the first lesson, and is open to the public.
