"Pizza with the President," an event sponsored by the Employee Assembly (EA) and employee trustee Michael Esposito, will be today, Jan. 15, noon-1 p.m. in Call Auditorium of Kennedy Hall.
The event will offer the first opportunity for many employees to get acquainted with Cornell's 11th president, Jeffrey S. Lehman. Pizza from Cornell Catering will be served after the event.
The program will feature a presentation highlighting the work day of four representative staff members. Also participating in the program will be Donna Goss, Employee Assembly chair; employee trustee Esposito; Deb Billups, Employee Assembly member; and Mary George Opperman, vice president for human resources. There will be an opportunity for staff members to pose questions to the president at the close of the program.
The event also helps kick off the staff portion of Lehman's "Call to Engagement," which he announced at his October inauguration. The "Call to Engagement" asks the Cornell community to reflect upon the university's larger issues in preparation for Cornell's 150th anniversary in the year 2015. The president is expected to share his perspectives on the "Call to Engagement" at today's event.
The EA and the Office of Human Resources will host follow-up staff discussions on the "Call to Engagement" Jan. 20 and Jan. 22 (See below). Staff also are encouraged to participate in conversations that occur in their colleges or units.
Questions can be directed to the Office of Assemblies at 255-7075.
"Call to Engagement" sessions will be in G10 Biotechnology Building:
Desserts and beverages will be provided.
(Additional sessions will be arranged for staff working at the Geneva Agricultural Experiment Station and those with conflicting schedules.)
