| On Oct. 1 a Cornell conference aimed at linking minority small business owners, particularly women of color, with large subcontracting companies took place at the School of Industrial and Labor Relations' conference center in New York City. It featured a panel that included, from left, Marsha Wolf and Alfred Milton, New York Department of Small Business; Joyce Moy, director, LaGuardia Community College, City University of New York; Francine Moccio, director, Cornell Institute for Women and Work; and Catherine T. Nolan (D-37th Dist.), head of the New York State Assembly's banking committee. More than 100 people and representatives from 50 private and public companies attended the day-long series of panels and workshops, which was sponsored by the ILR School's Institute for Women and Work and was held to mark Hispanic Heritage Month.
