Gingerbread dream houses

Julie Rose '07, ILR, left, and her friend Mariah Pfeiffer, a student at Bates College in Maine, examine some of the entries in the Cornell Baking Club's Gingerbread Bake-Off that were on display for judging Nov. 22 in the Willard Straight Hall Memorial Room. Teams created the houses in the Statler Hall food lab the previous day, and visitors purchased $1 tickets to vote on their favorite confections and enter a drawing to take home one of the prize-winning creations. Proceeds from the competition will help fund an after-school baking class for children at the Greater Ithaca Activities Center that will be taught by students from the Cornell Baking Club, which is a student organization in the School of Hotel Administration.
