President Lehman's Wilson Center address, Dec. 16 in Washington, will be webcast live

The eyes of many top policymakers in the nation's capital will be on Cornell President Jeffrey Lehman when he delivers a Director's Forum address at the prestigious Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Dec. 16.

The national speech is titled "The Role of Transnational Universities in a World with Transitional Challenges," and Lehman will argue that great research universities have a critical role to play in humanity's response to the world's great challenges. Lehman's address will begin at 10 a.m. EST.

The speech will be webcast live, and it can be accessed through Cornell's home page at http://www.cornell.edu.

The Wilson Center is a nonpartisan institute, headquartered in Washington, D.C., that fosters research, study, discussion and collaboration among a full spectrum of individuals concerned with policy and scholarship in national and world affairs. Its location in the nation's capital makes the center a unique meeting ground where vital current issues and their deep historical background can be explored through research and dialogue.

The Wilson Center http://wwics.si.edu/ was established by the U.S. Congress in 1968 and is the living, national memorial to U.S. President Woodrow Wilson. Led by its president and director, Lee H. Hamilton, the former 34-year U.S. Congressman from Indiana, the Wilson Center brings pre-eminent thinkers to Washington for extended periods of time to interact with policymakers through a large number of programs and projects.
