Pedestrian safety in Collegetown: Pedestrian safety and crosswalk concerns in Collegetown will be the focus of today's (Dec. 9) Collegetown Neighborhood Council meeting. Representatives from Ithaca's Department of Public Works, Common Council, Ithaca Police Department, student groups and other organizations will be in attendance. The meeting will be from 4 to 5 p.m. in St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 109 Oak Ave. Collegetown Neighborhood Council meetings are open to the public and are held the second Thursday of each month. Travel grant applications: If you need to travel abroad for your graduate research, the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies has opened its competition for the 2005-06 International Research Travel Grants for Cornell graduate students' travel between April 1, 2005, and June 30, 2006. The application deadline is Feb. 1, 2005. Applications are available at the Einaudi Center in 170 Uris Hall, the Graduate School in Caldwell Hall or online at http://www.einaudi.cornell.edu/fundingopps/travelgrant.asp. Applicants must be enrolled in an approved Ph.D. or master's degree program at Cornell. They must also show proof that they have applied for funding from the director of graduate studies in their own fields of study.
Pay parking fines online: Eligible Cornell community members can now submit forms online to pay their parking fines through either the bursar or payroll deduction at http://www.parking.cornell.edu. Beginning Jan. 1, the fine for parking in a reserved space will be $50; any vehicle parked, for extended periods, in a short-term, time-limited area may be issued multiple consecutive tickets and may be towed upon issuance of the fourth consecutive ticket. Also, the late fee for parking tickets will increase to $10.
