If you are interested in learning something new, taking a class for personal or professional advancement, or furthering your education, you are invited to register for a course through Cornell's Winter Session, offered Jan. 3-21.
Courses are held on and off campus and through online distance learning. You can even escape the snow to study ornithology in the Dominican Republic. Distance learning courses focus on topics including the history of popular culture in the United States, animal science, canine genetics, principles of public relations and advertising, introductory microeconomics, marketing, political philosophy, and the politics of incarceration in America. These courses may include a Web-based component, video tapes, e-mail sessions with faculty and/or CD-ROMs. On-campus courses offered this session focus on a variety of topics including peace science, economics, managerial accounting, biophysical laboratory methods, and organizational and expository writing. During this relatively quiet time on campus, you can enjoy smaller classes and easy access to university facilities. Coursework is focused and intensive. Off-campus courses include two courses in New York City: Swahili, designed to quickly develop speaking, reading, and writing skills; and a course on the American musical theater, in which participants attend Broadway performances of acclaimed musicals and explore the history of American musical theater. Also offered is a tropical field ornithology course in the Dominican Republic.
The deadline for registration for Winter Session is Dec. 15. Registration is held weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in B20 Day Hall. Tuition is $795 per credit.
