Encounter Adventures Underground at the Schwartz Center March 12-14

Cornell's Department of Theatre, Film and Dance will present the play Adventures Underground, an original adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland by Jeffrey de Picciotto '05.

This is not the Alice you remember from your childhood. De Picciotto's adaptation focuses on the sexual imagery of Carroll's famous story. De Picciotto, who also is directing the play, states that his adaptation "combines puppetry, mask, form and movement in an energetic, cohesive whole that plays between the absurdly funny and the disturbingly frightening." His Wonderland is a visceral world laden with desire, sensuality and love.

The cast includes Kirsten Kollender (Alice), Matthew Keagle (Charles) and Emilie Stark-Menneg, Shantha Susman, Harlan Work, Cory Sinclair and Beau Brinker (the Underground Company).

Performances will be held March 12 at 4:30 p.m. and March 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $2 in advance, $3 at the door. For information or tickets, call or visit the box office in the center, 430 College Ave., 12:30-5:30 p.m., weekdays; 254-ARTS.
