Hotel School center has online discussion board for industry

The Center for Hospitality Research at Cornell's School of Hotel Administration has created an online information exchange to help hospitality practitioners solve problems and discover new practices. The new online resource, created in response to demand from industry leaders, provides an open yet confidential forum in which industry professionals can engage both their peers and Cornell Hotel School faculty on a range of operating issues across the hospitality industry. The site is accessible at http://www.hotelschool.cornell.edu/chr/bb.

"This unique tool will enable managers to exchange ideas, share common problems and develop solutions to key business questions in a confidential manner," said Jo-Anne Kruse, senior vice president for human resources in Cendant Corp.'s Travel Distribution Services division. "It's a great way for professionals facing new challenges to reach out to others for perspective, insight and fresh ideas."

Cornell faculty members are active participants in the exchange, responding directly to questions and concerns. "Our faculty are pleased to share their experiences and expertise in this forum," said Gary Thompson, executive director of the Center for Hospitality Research and a professor in the Hotel School. "We are using this vehicle to help others, but also to better understand the kinds of issues that professionals find most demanding."
