Slope Day closings and detours: Preparations for and the celebration of this year's Slope Day will require some traffic pattern changes on campus.

On Thursday and Friday, May 6 and 7:

  • West Avenue, West Avenue parking and the Willard Straight Hall parking lot will be closed for Slope Day preparation and the event itself.

    On Friday, May 7:

  • Ho Plaza will be closed to foot traffic from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

  • The Campus Store Ho Plaza entrance will be closed.

  • The ATMs at the Campus Store Ho Plaza entrance will be available only to persons who pass through the gates to Slope Day.

  • Uris and Olin libraries will be accessible via Stimson Hall only.

For the latest information, see http://cuinfo.cornell.edu/SpecialConditions/.

Staff parking permits: A limited number of C staff parking permits will be available beginning Monday, May 10, on a walk-in basis at the Transportation and Mail Services office, 116 Maple Ave. Before staff members at the transportation office begin offering these permits to students, they want to be certain they are first accommodating the needs of faculty and staff for the coming year. Questions can directed to 255-PARK or transportation@cornell.edu.

Cascadilla Gorge path delays: The water-level trail through Cascadilla Creek gorge -- between the College Avenue entrance to the Cornell campus and the Treman Triangle park at the east end of Court Street -- remains closed to the public until Cornell Plantations crews complete repairs of extensive winter damage. The one-third-mile-long trail, a part of the Cornell Plantations Path network through and around the Cornell campus, routinely is closed during winter months because of ice hazards. This past winter's damage to trails and safety railings will delay the normal spring reopening until early summer. Cascadilla Creek trails east of College Avenue and all other Plantations Path trails now are open to the public. More information on trails and other activities of Cornell Plantations is at http://www.plantations.cornell.edu.
