Reunion book signing:The Cornell Store on Ho Plaza is having its 10th annual Reunion Weekend book signing event Saturday, June 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the store's upper level. The Cornell authors signing books include:Lauren Weisberger, The Devil Wears Prada; Carol Kammen, Cornell:Glorious to View; Michael Kammen, A Time to Every Purpose; Robert Morgan, The Strange Attractor and Brave Enemies; Steven Strogatz, Sync; Harry Littell, Cornell Then and Now; Wendy Knight, Far From Home and Making Connections:Mother Daughter Adventure Travel Tales; and Glenn Altschuler and Larry Moore, The 100 Most Notable Cornellians.
Also planning to be present are Cornell's Internet-First University Press authors:Dale Corson, Dale Corson:Cornell's Good Fortune; Jack Oliver, The Incomplete Guide to the Art of Discovery and Shakespeare Got It Wrong, It's Not 'To Be, It's 'To Do':The Autobiographical Memoirs of a Lucky Geophysicist; and Jay Orear, Enrico Fermi:The Master Scientist.
CASE award winners:In the 2004 Circle of Excellence competition held by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Cornell Alumni Magazine was selected to receive a gold award for College and University General Interest Magazines. The head of the judging panel, Tom Griffin of the University of Washington, said, "Our panel included three outside editors and four from within academe, but we all felt your publication was outstanding." Cornell Magazine Assistant Editor David Dudley won a bronze award in the Best Articles of the Year category for his feature "Anatomy of a Frat Party" (November/December 2003). The Cornell News Service also was a CASE winner, taking bronze in the Individual Institutional Relations Publications category for "Cornell Celebrates a New Beginning," the media handbook for the inauguration of Jeffrey Lehman as Cornell's 11th president.
Bake sale:The Financial Aid and Student Employment Office will sponsor a bake sale to benefit Relay for Life on Friday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in front of Willard Straight Hall.
