Teacher workshop on S.E. Asia: The Cornell Southeast Asia Program (SEAP) will present a training program for K-5 teachers and elementary school librarians June 28 and 29 at the Kahin Center for Advanced Research on Southeast Asia at 640 Stewart Ave. The title of the workshop is "From the Source:Exploring Community in Southeast Asia Through Children's Literature." It will focus on teaching about the region through the use of traditional and contemporary literature in tandem with primary source and material culture objects. Teachers and librarian participants each will receive a stipend to attend the workshop, in addition to meals, transportation and workshop materials. Registration must be received by June 22 (call now if overnight accommodations are needed). The program is funded by the Freeman Foundation Education on Asia Initiative and in part by the U.S. Department of Education.
