| The first piece of Cornell Plantations' 60th-birthday cake is served by Plantations Director Don Rakow, above, left, to Elizabeth Newman Wilds, a
principal benefactor and daughter of the late Floyd and Helen Newman. Wilds' parents also were long-time supporters of Plantations, which manages Cornell's
arboretum, botanical garden and natural areas.
Another treat for guests at the Aug. 15 celebration on the grounds of Plantations was lemon-basil ice cream, a new Cornell Dairy flavor, as taste-tested by Anqi Cong, 10, and Lucy Duan, also 10. Cong's father, Bin Cong, is a research associate in plant breeding. |
