Watt W. Webb, the S.B. Eckert Professor in Engineering and co-inventor of multiphoton microscopy, was honored by the Journal of Biomedical Optics with a special issue (September/October 2004) dedicated to his career achievements in research and education. An editorial in the journal, which is published by the International Biomedical Optics Society and the International Society for Optical Engineering, heralded Webb's "developments of new techniques and seminal research results, as well as voluminous training of rigorous biophysicists at both the graduate student and postdoctoral levels." When Webb, a regatta-winning sailor, and his Clark Hall research group leave work behind for an outing on Cayuga Lake, the editorial noted, the physicists claim to be conducting "studies of wave dynamics."
