Memorial

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Nilanjan Banerjee, MBA Class of 2006, will be held Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 4:30 p.m. in Anabel Taylor Hall Chapel. Banerjee, who was from Ottawa, Canada, died unexpectedly of cardiac arrest on his 26th birthday, Nov. 26, 2004. "He was an outstanding student and a loving friend," said Robert Swieringa, the Anne and Elmer Lindseth Dean of the Johnson Graduate School of Management in a letter to the Johnson School community in which he wrote that Banerjee's "enthusiasm, great energy talent and wonderful humor" would be missed. Known as "Nilly" to friends and classmates, Banerjee grew up in Canada, Bangladesh, Indonesia and India and traveled extensively during his lifetime, visiting 37 countries. He graduated from Dartmouth College with an A.B. degree in computer science and economics in 2001 and was a program manager at Microsoft in Redmond, Wash., securing three patents pending for his inventions before enrolling at the Johnson School last fall. His academic interests were in capital markets and international business, and he wrote for the student papers Cornell Business and The Cornell Review while on campus. For details on Banerjee's life and his family's wishes for donations in his memory see this Web site: http://www.mem.com/.
