Chekitan Dev, associate professor at the Hotel School, has been selected as the recipient of the University of Delaware Michael D. Olsen Research Achievement Award, which honors Olsen of Virginia Tech for his contribution to the body of hospitality knowledge and for his mentoring of graduate students. Given annually, the award recognizes someone who has made a significant contribution through sustained and focused research leading to important contributions to the body of knowledge in hospitality and tourism; graduate education and mentoring of graduate students; and overall contribution to the academy, including serving on editorial review boards, international symposia and conferences. Olsen commented: "Cheki has demonstrated an outstanding scholarly record. His efforts regarding new consumer behavior and brand marketing are woven throughout his publications, funded research and other teaching and scholarly activities. He has demonstrated effectiveness regarding our desire to present this award to those who have maintained a focused record of productivity that has contributed to the body of knowledge in a highly relevant way. The award was presented at the Tenth Annual Graduate Education and Graduate Student Research Conference in Myrtle Beach on Jan. 6.
